MEET THE BAND
Simon Coulson - Lead vocals and keys
Simon has written and performed in a number of original bands including In The Red, Ouija, Shiandra, Jonus and has played keys on tour for Julia Jones and Glenn Kirkham. Simon has many years experience in function bands performing at corporate events, parties, festivals and weddings. Simon formed Coolplay in 2002 with musician friends and the original line up has remained throughout. Simon is also an established songwriter and co-founder of The Songwriting Academy.
Dan Slowly - Bass guitar and backing vox
Dan has been playing bass since 1993 when he, guitarist Steve Jenner and a drummer friend formed band “Cold Tuesdays”. With many line-up changes along the way, Dan developed his playing as the band grew from a 3 piece practice band, to a 7 piece large scale function band. Dan’s style of playing is both dynamic and strong, laying down rock steady bass lines that allow both guitarist and keyboard player solid backing for effective lead play.
Rick McMunn - Drums and backing vox
Rick has been playing drums since the age of 21 and he has played in various bands across the South East, including Jonus, Cold Tuesdays before joining Coolplay. Rick loves nothing more than to play the drums to his favourite songs, which include Coldplay, Oasis, Paul Weller, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. Rick's style of playing is predominantly "rock" with a solid groove.
Steve Jenner - Lead guitar and backing vox
Steve started playing the guitar when he was 14 and played in numerous bands before joining 'Cold Tuesdays' in 1993 with Dan. Steve's style of playing is very much rock based with a heavy blues influence, but is very capable in playing any style asked from him. Steve enjoys recreating the sounds of Jonny Buckland in Coolplay.
